Spoutible Widget

I would upgrade to an Essentials Plan for a Spoutible widget. Thanks!

P.S. Also thanks for having a no-BS, free, Threads widget which is how I found CommonNinja. The Threads widget looks better than Meta’s website for Threads!

Hey @btn, wdym by a Spoutible widget?

Hi @btn,
We have added a Spoutible Feed widget to our development backlog and are looking forward to implementing it soon. :crossed_fingers:

Hi Daniel, it sounds like Erez has figured it out… :slightly_smiling_face: AFAIK, Spoutible lets people embed individual spouts (posts) but doesn’t have their own widget to embed a feed of spouts. In my case, I post on Spoutible first so I’d love a widget for my personal website that lets me share my Spoutible feed [of primary spouts on my user profile] on it (without having to manually update my site every time I post a new spout). Thanks! -Brian

[P.S. I think CommonNinja will be first movers with a feed widget for Spoutible. I’ll be happy to spout about your service there after the widget exists.]

Hi @Erez,

I’ve updated my site to use the Spoutible widget and also updated to the Essentials Plan, as promised. Here is my initial feedback:

  1. The Spoutible widget seems a little slower than the Threads widget in terms of pulling static images or video poster frames from Spoutible.
  2. It’d be great if clicking on an image opened the spout (post) on Spoutible instead of seemingly just reloading the page. My feedback is similar for the Threads widget which would open the image or static poster frame in a new layer.
  3. It’d also be great if clicking on a #hashtag opened the spout or hashtag timeline on Spoutible instead of treating it like an anchor on my site.
  4. It’d be nice if the like and reply Social Buttons could be displayed independently of the Share button. It’d also be nice if those buttons opened the spout on Spoutible.

Overall, it’s great to have a Spoutible widget! I’ll eventually spout about it but wanted to give you all an opportunity to potentially address some of my feedback first.

Thanks again!

Hi @btn great feedback.
We’ll take a look at everything and I’ll get back to you with answers and a timeline estimation.

Hi @btn,

  1. The initial loading of the posts is always slower. Please check if it’s now improved.
  2. I’m not sure I fully understand what you mean. Under Settings, you have the option to open the post in either a pop-up or a new tab. For opening in a browser tab, you can choose whether it opens in a new tab. Let me know if this is what you’re looking for.

  3. Fixed.
  4. I’m afraid I didn’t quite understand what you meant by this one.

Hi @Erez,

Re: 1 – There are still missing images in my feed.

Re: 2 – My settings are as they appear in your screenshot. They are opening in a new tab today, which is good.

Re: 3 – Thanks! Much better!

Re: 4 – I’d like to be able to show the heart and speech bubble icons but not the arrow Share link (unless there’s a way to customize the Share menu items; e.g. remove the menu item for 𝕏).

Thanks again!

Hi @Erez,

I haven’t been able to get the widget to update with new posts since Sep. 28. Is there a way to force a refresh? I tried changing the Spoutible user to a different user and then back to mine to no avail.

Re: 1 from my prior Sep. 17 post here, it seems that the issue is that the widget doesn’t get a poster frame for videos from Spoutible. i.e. The posts in my feed missing “images” in the widget have videos.

Thanks!

-Brian

Hi @btn Thank for reporting this issue. The bug is fixed.
